It must be great to just vote yourself a vacation.
According to the latest AP-Ipsos Poll, 75% of Americans disapprove of Congress. A majority of Americans surveyed. According to a Rasmussen poll, 61% believe Congress should end their vacation and vote on off-shore drilling right now.
It was Kansas Congressman Dennis Moore who provided the tie-breaking vote to take that 5-week vacation after helping block consideration of a full and balanced energy bill—following the lead of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
You would think Representative Moore would listen to the majority of Americans who disapprove of what he and Congress are doing, who want them back in Washington doing their jobs. But he seems less interested in constituents than in fellow partisans who needed that vacation to, among other things, hang out at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
