Since Dennis Moore and Nancy Pelosi took control of Congress
they've done less work than any Congress!
Take a look at this from Tuesday’s Wall Street Journal: "In two decades of record keeping, no sitting Congress has passed fewer public laws at this point in the session— 294 so far—than this one."
What has Congress been doing? They’ve passed a record 1,900 resolutions. Among other things, that includes saluting the Idaho Potato Commission's 70th Anniversary and designating July as National Watermelon Month.
Now, resolutions are an important part of congressional life. And some of them address deadly serious issues. But to produce 1,900 largely symbolic acts while stifling discussion on important energy policy is too much.
That’s exactly what happened when Dennis Moore cast the deciding vote to send Congress on a five-week vacation instead of staying in Washington to work on lowering gasoline prices. Thank goodness that didn’t happen to National Watermelon Month.
